ABOUT ME
I am a registered psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2020 (University of Saskatchewan). More recently, I have been working in hospital and medical settings (The Ottawa Hospital; Sydney Pain Clinic; Cape Breton Heart and Lung Wellness Centre). While I have lived away for some time, I grew up in Cape Breton.
I work with adults facing various psychological challenges (e.g., life adjustments, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss), including individuals who may also live with medical conditions (e.g., chronic illness, pain, and/or disability). I adopt a person-centered orientation that draws on various psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma therapies, mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies, psychodynamic/interpersonal/emotion-focused therapy, and existential therapies.
How I Can Help
I offer short-term and longer-term psychotherapy services to adults. This involves providing a safe space for you to share, understand, and work through your life challenges. With compassion and curiosity, I will help you explore your feelings, thoughts, values, and behaviours in a way that can provide new experiences, insights, coping skills, and a deeper sense of well-being. The ultimate goal is to have you eventually take over my role, becoming your own “inner therapist.”
